award given by the
Oregon Athletic Department for women athletes post graduation
(it is the
women's equivalent of the Leo Harris Award for men). Candidates
must be
out of school for 20-25 years. The award is based on what the

The award is named for Dr. Becky L. Sisley,
the university's first and
only Athletic Director of Women's Athletics. Dr. Sisley also coached
Softball and Field Hockey when Oregon women's teams were a member
of the
AIAW (Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women). She
was a
full professor on campus and has recently retired after 33 years
of
service to the university.
Each winter (usually in January) the
Order of the O sponsors a brunch or
dinner on campus prior to a women's basketball game where the
award
winner is announced and briefly speaks. She is also introduced
at half
time of the basketball game and receives her award at that time.
The
Order of the O partners with the Women's Basketball Reunion when
possible. Order of the O memebers, athletic department donors,
and
Fastbreak Club members all receive invitations to the event.

Becky Sisley Award
Sally Blickle Cassidy was honored at halftime of the Civil War
women’s basketball game on February 5th as the newest recipient
of the Becky Sisley Award. Cassidy was a softball and basketball
player for the Ducks from 1975-79. She earned her bachelor’s
degree in physical education from the University of Oregon in
1979. She is a member of the Order of the O and the Fast Break
Club, and also was inducted into Portland’s Central Catholic
High School Hall of Fame. Sally is currently a counselor at Explorer
Middle School in Snohomish, Wash., and the assistant girls’
varsity basketball coach at Snohomish High School. Her ability
as a school counselor was recognized by her nomination for the
Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award in the Mukilteo School District.
Sally was chosen because of her commitment to youth. She has coached
